About Spanish 1 Honors

Spanish 1 Honors is the first year of study in a 3-year program designed to prepare students for the Regents exam.

In this class, students will complete tasks that require them to listen, speak, read, and write in Spanish.

All tasks are worth credit and grades are calculated on a simple average: total number of points earned divided by total number of points available (assigned).

Since this is an Honors class, students will be held to a higher academic standard.  Not only will they be required to come to class on time and prepared to learn, they are expected to go above and beyond what is taught in a traditional Spanish 1 class; this means additional vocabulary and grammar topics, frequent homework assignments, and additional projects that will not be available to the Spanish 1 classes.

Attendance in class is mandatory, as many of the tasks require speaking in Spanish and have no "take-home" equivalent.
